The Mandalorian
and Grogu
Watch Guide
Watch Guide
A human foundling raised by the "Children of the Watch," an orthodox cult that follows the ancient Way of the Mandalore. Originally a ruthless bounty hunter, his life changed forever when he chose to protect his target (Grogu) rather than turn him in to the Imperial Remnant. He is a man of few words, incredible combat skills, and unshakeable loyalty.
A Force-sensitive being of the same mysterious species as Grand Master Yoda. Although he is over 50 years old, he ages very slowly and is still a child. He was a Jedi youngling at the Temple on Coruscant and survived Order 66. After being experimented on by the Empire, he was rescued by Din Djarin. He possesses immense Force abilities but chose his attachment to his father figure over the path of the Jedi.
Season 1: The Bond Formed
Din Djarin accepts a job to track down a 50-year-old asset. Upon discovering it is a child (Grogu), he betrays the Bounty Hunter Guild to save him. The two travel across the galaxy, pursued by the Imperial warlord Moff Gideon, who wants Grogu’s blood for cloning experiments. Din forms a clan of two.
Season 2: The Quest for the Jedi
Din seeks to return Grogu to his own kind: the Jedi. Along the way, he meets allies like Bo-Katan Kryze (heiress to Mandalore), Ahsoka Tano, and Boba Fett. Din accidentally wins the legendary Darksaber in combat against Moff Gideon. The season ends with Luke Skywalker arriving to save them and taking Grogu away to train as a Jedi.
Crucial Chapter: The Book of Boba Fett (Episodes 5, 6 & 7)
Important: Many fans missed this! While separated, Din Djarin is banished from his covert for removing his helmet. Meanwhile, Luke Skywalker gives Grogu a choice: take Yoda’s lightsaber (become a Jedi) or a chainmail shirt from Din (return to his friend). Grogu chooses the chainmail. He leaves Luke and reunites with Din Djarin during the battle for Mos Espa.
Season 3: Redemption & Reclaiming Mandalore
Din Djarin seeks redemption in the Living Waters beneath the destroyed planet of Mandalore. He and Bo-Katan unite the scattered Mandalorian tribes to retake their homeworld from Moff Gideon, who had built a secret base there.
The Darksaber: destroyed in battle
Moff Gideon: presumably killed in the explosion
The Outcome:
Mandalore is free. Din Djarin officially
adopts Grogu as his son, "Din Grogu", and takes him on as a Mandalorian apprentice.
"Case Closed" At the end of Season 3, Din Djarin approaches the New Republic (specifically Captain Carson Teva). He offers his services as an independent contractor to hunt down Imperial Remnants strictly "off the books".
The Setup Din and Grogu are currently living peacefully in a cabin on the planet Nevarro. They are no longer running; they are now hunters working to protect the New Republic, while Grogu begins his training not as a Jedi, but as a Mandalorian
